HB3582 passes Illinois Senate with bipartisan support

The expansion to the Victims’ Economic Security & Safety Act (VESSA) just passed the Illinois Senate with bipartisan support! Thank you to Representative Robyn Gabel and State Senator Robert Peters for your leadership on HB3582, and to your incredible staff for guiding the way with their expertise.

Survivors know that access to trauma recovery is critical to breaking the cycle of violence and increasing safety. This VESSA expansion will provide more survivors and victims of violent crime —including homicide and injuries from gun violence —with critical workplace policies and protections needed to access trauma recovery support and services.

Thank you all who co-sponsored this bill in the House and the Senate and to all the survivors, organizers, and advocates who made this a reality.
